A Prosperous Britain

An economically stable, fully employed nation

The time has come to start thinking differently about the economy. The Green Party believe in an economic model that puts normal people first, rather than rewards the rich and punishes the poor. Greens in Parliament will fight for a fair, stable, sustainable economy. Greens think it's unfair that the government stands by while unemployment skyrockets.

  • The Greens are fighting for an immediate £44bn investment package, to create over a million new jobs in low-carbon industries within 2-3 years - jobs that will start building the 21st century infrastructure Britain needs, with public transport that works; with warm, cheap to run homes; with much lower energy costs for businesses.
  • The Green Party's million-job recovery plan would bring thousands of jobs to Nottingham alone, in sectors including public transport, social care, housebuilding and green industries.
  • In Nottingham we will fight hard against proposed public service job cuts that will not only affect those who lose their jobs but also the many people who rely on the fantastic work that they do.

A living wage

The minimum wage is really a poverty wage. Every calculation shows that a real Living Wage - what we really need to provide for ourselves and our families - is at least a pound an hour higher.

Greens have won a Living Wage for workers around the country, and now we want more people to benefit.

Inequality

Under a labour government we have seen the gap between rich and poor widen and we can be sure the trend will only worsen under a Conservative government. Vote Green for a fairer and more prosperous society for all.
